Spinal Decompression/Traction

Spinal Decompression/Traction Treatment in Woodbury, MN

Do you have arm or leg pain? How about disc herniation, sciatica, or disc degeneration? Spinal decompression/traction may relieve pain associated with bulging and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, sciatica, and even failed back surgery of the neck and the lower back.

How Does It Work?

Typical treatments take about 20 minutes. Patients remain clothed and lie on a motorized table. For lower back and leg pain, a harness is placed around the hips and attached to the table near the feet.   For neck and arm pain, your head and neck lie in a cradle attached to the table.  The table is computerized and is very specific regarding the amount of force being applied, all of which is preset.  In addition, you have a “stop button” in case you feel discomfort or need the table to stop.

As it moves, it applies a distraction force to a targeted area of the spine. A computer controls the distraction force which is applied in between periods of relaxation. This force gently pulls the vertebrae apart creating a small vacuum of negative pressure between the vertebrae, which then, pulls the disc and other spinal structures back into shape. The lower pressure will cause healing nutrients and other substances back into the disc. You should not feel pain but may feel a stretch while treatment is in progress.
